Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traore, received in audience, this Friday, the winners of the ''First Global Challenge 2025'', an international robotics competition which was held in Panama.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso has reached the pinnacle of world robotics. This feat was achieved by the engineers of Gobelab, who won the gold medal at the First Global Challenge 2025. The winners of this global robotics competition presented their prize to the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who is committed to promoting technical and technological research.
'It was truly an honor for us that the President was able to make time for us to welcome us and to congratulate us on having been able to contribute to enhancing Burkina Faso's image internationally,' says Gobelab co-founder Lawatan Fabrice TOE.
He added that the Head of State encouraged the team to continue in this direction, to demystify science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and to contribute to strengthening the potential of young people. Gobelab's engineers have designed a robot that can help restore biodiversity and another capable of participating in sanitation efforts by collecting waste.
'The fact that we were able to win this gold medal shows that our young people have talent,' says Gobelab co-founder Lawatan Fabrice TOE. He announces the creation of a 'fablab,' a community laboratory, where people can come to learn and improve their skills.
