Ouagadougou: The Association for the Defense of the Rights of Domestic Helpers (ADDAD) donated school kits and gardening equipment to schools in the commune of Gourcy. The official donation ceremony took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Gourcy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation included 200 school kits, 10 bicycles, and 10 gardening kits. The donation was officially handed over during a ceremony presided over by the High Commissioner of the Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabe. The initiative aims to strengthen the link between knowledge, culture, and autonomy for an education more anchored in local realities and values, as stated by the association's president, Sikinatou Ouedraogo.
The president emphasized that the vision is for a school that nourishes, trains, and empowers, where children learn about life, collective work, and respect for nature. The donation will be accompanied by the development of 10 school gardens to support the implementation of the project.
Karim Sawadogo, the provincial director in charge of education in Zondoma, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary schools, noting that the contribution aligns with the State's educational policy. The High Commissioner congratulated the donors and expressed the administration's willingness to support the initiative, urging beneficiaries to use the goods wisely.
In addition to the equipment, the association facilitated the acquisition of 400 birth certificates and 280 CNIBs, distributed on the same day to support vulnerable people. Since its creation in 2012, the association has been working to promote the rights of domestic workers, empower women and girls, and ensure equitable access to education.
