Ouagadougou: The National Museum hosted a symposium on archives management, aimed at improving access, conservation, and promotion of public archives, in order to strengthen their contribution to the economic and cultural development of Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, 'The recommendations resulting from this symposium should increase access to public archives, improve their conservation and promotion, thus strengthening their contribution to the economic and cultural development of Burkina Faso,' said Michel Saba, the representative of the Ministry of Communication and Culture.
He also indicated that the activity organized by the Directorate of Archives and Documentation aims to "raise awareness among decision-makers, archives professionals, and administrative staff about the current issues and challenges related to the management of our archival heritage."
The discussions focused on the crucial role of archives in administration, the specific challenges posed by document management in times of crisis, and the contribution of the archives of the August 1983 Revolution to the Isidore No«l Thomas Sankara memorial project.
In short, this conference marks an important step in the promotion of archives in Burkina Faso, highlighting their essential role in the construction of a collective memory and the strengthening of national identity.
