Anyone Trying To Divide ODM Faces Disciplinary Action, Omanyo

Nairobi: Busia County: Busia County Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo has warned that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will take firm disciplinary action against members whose conduct threatens party unity. Omanyo, who also serves as the party's Deputy Secretary General, cautioned that ODM will not hesitate to expel members who fail to adhere to the party's constitution and engage in activities aimed at destabilising the party. She emphasized that no individual should assume they can weaken or destroy ODM through internal divisions, and the party leadership will not tolerate what she termed as unnecessary political games.

According to Kenya News Agency, Omanyo stated that members who allow themselves to be used by certain forces to divide or destroy the party from within will face consequences. She highlighted that ODM members are aware of the stakes and are committed to maintaining party unity. Omanyo made these remarks in Teso Central Sub-County during the issuance of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) grants to self-help groups.

Omanyo emphasized that while ODM accommodates divergent views and opinions, members must respect the party constitution and established structures to maintain cohesion. She reassured supporters that despite reported internal wrangles, ODM remains strong and united. The party leadership is actively engaging to address emerging challenges and safeguard unity.

Furthermore, Omanyo revealed that ODM is currently working with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) under the broad-based government arrangement. She noted that any future political engagements will be guided by clear negotiations and agreed terms, reflecting the same position taken by the late party leader, Raila Odinga, when he joined the broad-based government.
