Anti-Gang Unit arrests suspects for the possession of firearms and drugs

Efforts to rid the streets of the Western Cape of the illegal firearms and drugs yielded positive results when members of the Anti-Gang Unit searched a premises in Southam Street, Stradford Green, Eerste River on Sunday afternoon, 28 May 2023.

The members received information about firearms at the identified premises and acted on it. The members found and confiscated a pistol, a revolver, three imitation firearms and ammunition as well as 200 mandrax tablets and ten zip lock plastic bags containing crushed mandrax. A 30 year old woman was arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, the possession of imitation firearms and possession of drugs.

Once charged she will appear in the Worcester Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 26 year old man for the possession of two homemade zip guns on Sunday, 28 May 2023. The members followed up on information received from Crime Intelligence of firearms that are hidden at a premises in Excelsior Way, Worcester and pounced on the premises. While searching the premises the members found the zip guns hidden in the room. The suspect was arrested and detained.

He will appear in the Worcester Magistrates court on Tuesday.
