Announcement regarding the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Israel and the Republic of Cyprus (Athens, 05. 04. 2022)

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will host in Athens tomorrow, April 5, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Yair Lapid, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, in view of the Trilateral Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Tomorrow’s Trilateral Meeting follows the corresponding Meeting held in Jerusalem last August, as well as the Summit Meeting that also took place in Jerusalem last December.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will hold a one-to-one meeting with his Cypriot counterpart, followed by expanded talks. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus is expected to arrive at approximately 10:40.

As part of the co-ordination between Athens and Nicosia, talks are expected to focus on the Cyprus issue, the situation in Ukraine and developments in Eastern Mediterranean.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will then hold a one-to-one meeting with the Foreign Minister of Israel. Following the meeting between the two Ministers, expanded talks will take place. The Israeli Foreign Minister is expected to arrive at approximately 12:55.

Talks between the Greek and Israeli Foreign Ministers are expected to cover the situation in Ukraine, developments in Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, as well as close Greek-Israeli cooperation in all areas.

Expanded talks in the framework of the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs are expected to start at approximately 15:10. Joint statements to the press will follow at approximately 16:15.

Talks between the Foreign Ministers of the three countries are expected to focus on further strengthening their close cooperation in various fields, such as energy, civil protection, economy and the fight against terrorism, with the ultimate objective of promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in Eastern Mediterranean.

The three Ministers are also expected to examine security challenges in the wider region, as well as the scope for expanding co-operation with the participation of other states.
