Following the continuous contact and coordination of actions between Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias and his counterparts, as well as his relevant instructions to the Crisis Management Unit and other services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the safe evacuation of Greek citizens from Sudan, 10 more people have been evacuated, this time with the assistance of Italy.
The above-mentioned citizens have already arrived in Djibouti. The group of 10 consists of Greeks and their family members. Everyone is in good health.
It is noted that, as announced yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the French plane carrying the two injured Greeks also landed in Djibouti early this morning.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed of these developments.
The Ambassador of Greece to Ethiopia and the Honorary Consul of our country in Djibouti are already there to receive the above-mentioned Greek citizens and provide any assistance.
During today’s Foreign Affairs Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias will extend his thanks to his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, for Italy’s substantial assistance in the evacuation of the above-mentioned Greeks from Sudan.
The process regarding the evacuation of the remaining Greeks and their family members as well as the coordination with EU partners and allies to this end are ongoing.
