A Hellenic Air Force C-130 aircraft took off from Khartoum earlier today as part of an operation to evacuate Greek citizens from Sudan.
The aircraft has already safely entered Egyptian airspace, carrying 39 people, including 20 Greek citizens and their families.
The remaining evacuees are citizens of other EU Member States as well as third -country nationals.
A Greek diplomat is also participating in the mission.
The Air Force aircraft is expected to arrive in Athens this evening.
With the completion of this operation, the total number of our compatriots and their family members evacuated is 125.
