Angola’s Women’s Handball Team Suffers Second Loss in Tournament in Norway

Luanda – Angola’s national senior women’s handball team faced a 30-33 defeat against Poland on Saturday during the second round of the Four Nations tournament in Norway, a preparatory event for the World Women’s Handball Championship.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angola Handball Federation’s schedule, after completing the Four Nations tournament, the team will return to Hungary before heading to Stavanger, Norway, on November 29. There, Angola will compete in the first phase of the World Cup, placed in Group D with France, Slovenia, and Iceland.

This loss marks the team’s second setback in the tournament, following their initial 24-32 defeat against hosts Norway. Angola is scheduled to play Iceland on Sunday in their final match of the competition.

The 2023 World Women’s Handball Championship, scheduled from November 29 to December 17, is a tri-nation event co-hosted by Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Angola is aiming to surpass their previous performance, where they finished 25th in the last championship held in Spain in 2021.
