Angola’s Minister Advocates for Women’s Empowerment Through Training

VIANA: Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, the Angolan Minister of Social Action, Family and Woman Promotion, emphasized the importance of academic and professional training in empowering young women and teenagers.

According to Angola Press News Agency, minister’s statement made in Luanda at a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored event, the training is crucial for empowering women. The session in Luanda gathered 60 participants from the nation’s capital, focusing on fostering gender equality, entrepreneurship, menstrual health, and hygiene management.

The training program, which runs until November 6, is set to expand beyond Luanda, with the Lunda Sul province next on the schedule for the same date. The event, presided over by Cabo Verdean international consultant Lara Almeida, has seen attendance from women across various civil society and religious organizations.

Mady Biaye, the UNFPA representative in Angola, conveyed to the media that the agency’s role includes bolstering initiatives aimed at enhancing sexual and reproductive health, as well as advocating for the empowerment of women globally. The UNFPA’s mission aligns with supporting the rights to sexual and reproductive health and empowerment efforts worldwide.
