Luanda: Angola's ambassador to China, Dalva Ringote Allen, met with the Secretary-General of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah, in Hong Kong to discuss strategies for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Global Mediation Summit, which is currently underway in Hong Kong. This summit gathers government representatives, international law experts, academics, businesspeople, and international organizations, all with the aim of promoting the international rule of law and enhancing alternative mechanisms for resolving commercial and financial disputes.
The opening session of the summit was led by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, who emphasized the region's dedication to establishing itself as a global hub for the peaceful mediation of commercial disputes. Angola is participating in the summit as an observer member of IOMed, an organization initiated by the Chinese government and based in Hong Kong, which supports the resolution of international trade disputes and promotes legal security and foreign investment.
IOMed was officially inaugurated in October 2025 and currently has 41 signatory states and 13 contracting states. Dalva Ringote leads the Angolan delegation at the event, which also includes the Consul General of Angola in Macau, Eduardo Velasco Galiano, along with other officials from the diplomatic mission.
