Angolan Tourism Revenue Surges to 667 Million Dollars in 2025

Berlin: The Angolan tourism sector achieved remarkable growth, generating approximately 667 million US dollars in 2025, driven by a 30% increase in international arrivals. This announcement was made by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, during a meeting with businesspeople at the 60th edition of the Berlin 2026 International Tourism Fair, which concludes this Thursday. According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister emphasized that this surge in visitors has positioned Angola as the fastest-growing tourist destination in Africa and the fourth fastest-growing globally. The hotel industry has shown significant expansion, increasing from 1,260 units in 2021 to 1,428 in 2024, with an occupancy rate exceeding 72%. Business tourism continues to flourish, highlighting Angola's emerging role as a regional business hub. The minister attributed this success to strategic reforms and investments by the Angolan government. He outlined plans to train ten thousand professionals in t he tourism sector by 2027, ensuring a skilled workforce prepared for the global market. Furthermore, territorial master plans are being financed in 29 priority areas to ensure sustainable and integrated tourism development. He emphasized that investment is crucial to transforming Angola's tourism potential into reality. The government has approved a budget of 449 billion pounds for infrastructure development in integrated tourist zones, laying the groundwork for private investment along the South coast. The minister reiterated Angola's commitment to building a sustainable, competitive, and globally connected tourism sector and encouraged entrepreneurs to invest, form partnerships, and explore the country's opportunities and natural beauty. Angola received three prestigious awards on the second day of ITB 2026, including "Best Destination and Diverse Landscapes of the Year," "Best Promotional Video of a Tourist Destination," and "Minister of Tourism of the Year: Resurrection." Angolan culture, particularly k izomba, semba, and kuduro music, captivated attendees, drawing them away from their stands to experience the vibrant Angolan culture. The event's final day includes business meetings and a closing ceremony with a dinner for exhibitors. ITB 2026 coincides with the 60th anniversary of the world's largest tourism fair, organized by Messe Berlin. This edition highlights digitalization, sustainability, and the international expansion of the ITB network to emerging markets, featuring over five thousand exhibitors from more than 170 countries. The event's themes focus on sustainability, artificial intelligence, and the future of travel, with the motto "Discover the stories behind 60 years of legacy."
