Angolan Prosecutor Advocates for Investments to Combat Corruption

Luena: The Republic's prosecutor at the Angolan eastern Moxico province District Court, Miguel Paulo, emphasized the need for investments in technical resources and ongoing training for justice operators to effectively combat corruption and embezzlement. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Public Prosecutor made these remarks during a round table on 'Good Governance', organized by the provincial delegation of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) under the theme '40 Years of Inspection Activity and Asset Management'. Miguel Paulo highlighted the importance of training inspectors and police personnel, along with improving logistical resources, to effectively tackle white-collar crime. He emphasized that citizen participation, through reporting acts that harm public assets, is crucial for successfully fighting corruption. Paulo urged public managers to adhere to principles of legality, rigor, and transparency in managing public affairs for the effective functioning of Public Administr ation. During the event, IGAE's provincial delegate, Rui Pedro Pipa, reported unethical conduct by some managers in public affairs management within Moxico. In the first quarter of the year, the institution received over 200 complaints related to administrative acts, mainly concerning unethical behaviors by public managers. Despite these issues, Pipa stated that corruption cases in the province are not alarming but encouraged the public to report any acts of public impropriety they encounter. The round table gathered public managers, civil administration officials, institution representatives, and civil society members to reinforce the significance of rigor, transparency, legality, and sound public asset management.
