Luanda: Angolan Head of State Joo Louren§o held a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro S¡nchez, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic. The discussion between the leaders was centered on enhancing the relationship between Angola and Spain.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the dialogue underscored the importance of building upon the "quite tangible gains" previously achieved by Angola and Spain through their collaboration. In October last year, President Joo Louren§o had expressed his intention to expand these gains, as noted in a message to King Felipe VI on Spain's National Day. The Angolan President emphasized the potential for growth in the dynamic exchange that defines their bilateral collaboration.
Joo Louren§o reiterated Angola's commitment to strengthening its friendship with Spain and intensifying cooperation in various sectors. The relationship between the two countries reached a significant milestone in 2023, following King Felipe VI's visit to Angola, during which several legal instruments were signed. A notable agreement was the Memorandum of Understanding between the VenSncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy and the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain.
In addition, two other Memorandums of Understanding were signed, focusing on cooperation in Industry and Sports. These agreements are part of a broader framework of bilateral relations based on the General Cooperation Agreement signed on May 20, 1987, and its subsequent Complementary Agreement.
