Luanda: Angolan president Joo Lourenço on Monday granted an audience to Margarida Talapa, Speaker of the Mozambican Parliament, who is in Luanda to participate in the 50th anniversary celebrations of National Independence on Tuesday. According to Angola Press News Agency, Talapa, who will represent Mozambican President Daniel Chapo at the event, told the press that she conveyed greetings from her president and the Mozambican people to the Angolan people on the occasion of the independence jubilee. The parliamentary leader praised Angola's role in promoting regional integration and strengthening cooperation between African countries. Angola has played a significant role in the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). She thanked the Angolan government for forgiving 50% of Mozambique's debt and expressed hope that the Angolan parliament would ratify the measure soon. "On behalf of our Head of State, we thank the Angolan government for its decisi on, and we hope it will be ratified soon," she said.
