Angolan President Joo Louren§o Receives Omani Envoy to Enhance Bilateral Ties

Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o on Friday met with Omar Said Ali Kathiri, the special envoy of His Majesty Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, in Luanda. The envoy delivered an official message from the Omani sovereign, although the specific content was not disclosed. The meeting underscored the mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations between Angola and Oman.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the special envoy conveyed a message from the Sultan of Oman to President Joo Louren§o. During the meeting, discussions focused on friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Omar Said Ali Kathiri emphasized the productive nature of the dialogue, expressing admiration for Joo Louren§o's leadership in Africa and highlighting the opportunity for exchanging views on matters of common interest.

The meeting was part of ongoing diplomatic and cooperation efforts between Angola and Oman, as Luanda aims to bolster political and economic ties with Middle Eastern partners. This engagement reflects the broader framework of strengthened bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as political diplomacy, energy, commerce, and investment.

The cooperation between Luanda and Muscat is driven by a mutual interest in economic diversification and strategic partnerships, especially in oil and gas, maritime logistics, agriculture, tourism, technical training, and trade. Both nations are committed to enhancing diplomatic coordination and fostering stronger bilateral relations through high-level exchanges.

Angola regards Oman as a strategic partner in the Persian Gulf, while Oman is keenly interested in Angola's potential in natural resources, fisheries, infrastructure, and logistics. Under the leadership of Haitham bin Tariq since 2020, Oman has been expanding its economic presence in Africa through investments in energy, transport, and maritime logistics.

The recent dialogue between the Omani special envoy and President Joo Louren§o indicates the political resolve of both Angola and Oman to advance bilateral dialogue and explore new opportunities for economic and institutional cooperation.
