Angolan President Joo Louren§o Engages Indian Business Leaders in New Delhi

New Delhi: Angolan President Joo Louren§o on Sunday held a separate audience with Indian businessmen in New Delhi to discuss the prospects of the Angolan market. The Angolan statesman has been in New Delhi since Friday to strengthen bilateral cooperation with India.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the first meeting was with Nazim Charni, CEO of the Noble Group, which operates in the wholesale, retail, consumer goods, and manufacturing sectors. The group owns the Angomart supermarket chain, Sanzi Moto, and the Planeta Group, among others. Following this, President Louren§o engaged in a discussion with Amit Uplenchwar, director of strategy at Kalpataru, India’s second-largest infrastructure company listed on the stock exchange. Kalpataru is planning a significant investment project to build a 400-kilowatt power distribution center in Angola’s Huambo and Hu­la provinces, with a budget of US$150 million.



Another key meeting was with Ramanayan Chandra, CEO of Edvincible Technology, a diversified group interested in forming partnerships within Angola’s agricultural, health, and technology sectors. The company has expressed willingness to invest between US$100 million and US$300 million in Angola. President Louren§o also met with Shiri Nadda, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, and Assis Khanna, CEO of the International Solar Alliance (ISA). ISA is a global intergovernmental organization focused on promoting solar energy adoption for a carbon-neutral future and is keen to invest in several sectors in Angola.



The final audience was with Brijes Dholakia, CEO of Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd (HK), a leading supplier of polished diamonds to over 100 countries worldwide. The Angolan leader’s two-day visit to India was aimed at reinforcing the foundations of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
