Luanda: Angolan president Joo Lourenço congratulated on Sunday his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan for the 55th anniversary of the independence of the Middle Eastern country.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Joo Lourenço, on behalf of the Angolan government and people, extended congratulations to the UAE government and people, acknowledging the country’s path and its development. The Angolan President noted the UAE’s institutional stability, international leadership, and strategic vision that has guided its economic and social progress.
Lourenço emphasized the strong and longstanding friendly relations, solidarity, and cooperation between Angola and the UAE, which have been strengthened through dialogue, mutual trust, and beneficial partnerships across various fields. He expressed Angola’s commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation, aiming for a strategic partnership that aligns with the development goals of both nations.

A notable achievement in their relationship was the signing of 44 agreements in August 2025, covering military, financial, and cultural cooperation, along with visa exemptions for specific passport categories. UAE investments in Angola currently exceed 6.5 billion US dollars, targeting economic diversification in Angola.
