Luanda: Angolan Head of State Joo Louren§o congratulated Antonio Jose Seguro on Monday for his victory in the second round of the presidential elections held on Sunday in Portugal.
According to Angola Press News Agency, in the message made public on Monday by the Presidency of the Republic, the Angolan president emphasized that by granting Jose Seguro a clear victory, the Portuguese people made a safe bet on the continuity of policies that guarantee stability in Portugal's relationship with the world.
The president added that the preservation of achievements over the last five decades has allowed Angola and Portugal to develop cooperation that has worked in the past, in the present, and guarantees promising prospects for deepening in the future.
Joo Louren§o said he expects to maintain a fruitful and constructive dialogue with the President-elect of Portugal at the first opportunity offered to them for this purpose, wishing Jos© Seguro success in the performance of his difficult and noble mission as President of the Portuguese Republic.
With 95 percent of votes counted, 63-year-old Seguro has garnered 66 percent. Ventura trailed at 34 percent.
