Angolan President Calls for Commitment to Attract Foreign Investment

Luanda: President Joo Louren§o on Tuesday instructed the heads of diplomatic missions to continue improving cooperation relations with the countries where they work in order to attract foreign investment. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of four recently appointed ambassadors, following the rotation at the diplomatic level, Joo Louren§o said that attracting investment should also focus on the tourism sector, with a view to strengthening friendly ties and economic cooperation, more broadly, between Angola and other countries.

According to Angola Press News Agency, President Louren§o emphasized that the mission of the ambassadors is to elevate relations with the countries in which they are accredited to the highest possible level. This initiative aims to bring investments from these nations into Angola, particularly targeting sectors like tourism to bolster economic cooperation and friendly ties.

President Louren§o also highlighted the importance of the diplomatic corps rotation, suggesting that this practice is crucial for refreshing diplomacy. He noted that ambassadors should not remain in their positions for extended periods, aligning with practices from other countries where regular rotation is the norm.

The ceremony, held in the Great Hall of the Presidential Palace, saw the swearing-in of Alfredo Dombe as ambassador to Rwanda, Balbina Malheiros Dias da Silva to Spain, Baltazar Diogo Crist³vo to Zimbabwe, and Jos© Filipe to Morocco.
