Angolan Pedestrian Dies in Masokotwani Car Accident

Masokotwani: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi Region is investigating a case of culpable homicide and reckless driving following the death of a 57-year-old pedestrian who was run over at Masokotwani on Sunday night. According to Namibia Press Agency, a NamPol incident report detailed that the accident occurred around 22h00. A pick-up truck traveling from Lusu towards Katima Mulilo allegedly struck the pedestrian. The deceased, identified as Josefina Kapinda, was walking from a neighboring village back to her home in Mufumi village when the incident took place. Police reports indicate that Kapinda was crossing the road at the time she was run over. Her next of kin have been informed of her passing. The driver involved, a 44-year-old with a valid driver's license, had not been arrested at the time of the report, although the investigation is ongoing. NamPol officers responded to the scene, and the victim's body was transported to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
