Angolan Man Arrested for Fatal Attack on Daughter in Oshana

Oshana — A tragic incident occurred in the Ondulu Nomongwa village, Oshana Region, where an Angolan man was arrested for allegedly killing his fifteen-month-old daughter by slashing her neck with a panga on Saturday night.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident took place around 23h00. The suspect reportedly awoke from sleep, disturbed by hallucinations of lions and hyenas approaching. In his agitated state, he began to assault the other occupants of the house, including the child’s mother, who was attempting to calm him. Aiyambo stated, “He slapped one of them and proceeded to take a stick and started beating them, during which he struck the baby who was in the mother’s arms, causing her to fall to the ground.”



The situation escalated further when the baby’s mother, along with two other individuals, fled to a neighbor’s house seeking safety. “When the neighbor came to rescue the baby, they found the suspect holding the victim in his hands with an open cut at the neck, and a panga with blood on it,” Aiyambo added.



The victim was identified as Maria Nuusiku Lukas. Following the incident, the suspect was arrested and is currently detained at the Oshakati Police Station. The police investigation into this horrifying event continues as the community reels from the shock.
