Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o sent on Saturday a congratulatory message to Sidi Ould Tah, the new president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
According to Angola Press News Agency, in a message released by the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Louren§o expressed his immense joy at the appointment of Sidi Ould Tah, an achievement that will certainly contribute to the enhancement of the AfDB and the progress of the African continent.
“On my own behalf, on behalf of the government of Angola, and on behalf of the African Union, allow me the honor to offer our warmest and most fraternal congratulations, wishing you continued success and prosperity,” wrote the president of Angola and the African Union.
Joo Louren§o expressed his conviction that Sidi Ould Tah’s leadership will strengthen development partnerships with African nations and reiterated Angola’s willingness to strengthen its partnership with the African Development Bank.
Sidi Ould Tah, from Mauritania, replaced Akinwumi Adesina, from Nigeria, who had held the position since 2015.
The AfDB is a multinational development bank created in 1964 with 53 African countries as members. The AfDB has a portfolio of 12 projects in Angola in the fisheries, agriculture, environment, finance, social services, energy, water, and sanitation sectors.
Recently, the AfDB expressed openness to financing projects that promote regional mobility and integration through roads, railways, and energy.
