Angolan Govt Spent AkZ 588.8 Billion in Fuel Subsidies in 2nd Quarter of 2024

Luanda: The Angolan government spent a total of 588.8 billion kwanzas in the second quarter of 2024, a decrease of 17.99% compared to the previous quarter, data from the Ministry of Finance show.



According to Angola Press News Agency, this represents a negative nominal variation of 129.12 billion kwanzas compared to the first quarter of the same year. In year-on-year terms, expenditures rose by 136.73%, a nominal increase of 340.08 billion kwanzas.



During the period under review, expenditure on subsidizing lighting oil increased by 140.10%, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 157.06%, gasoline by 134.68%, and diesel by 134.52% compared to the same period last year.
