Angolan Government Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Inclusion

Luanda: The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technology, ngelo Buta Joo, reaffirmed on Monday the Angolan Government's commitment to expanding digital inclusion, with a view to democratising access to technology in the country.

According to Angola Press News Agency, speaking at the opening of 'Huawei Day 2026', ngelo Buta Joo emphasised that digital technologies hold vast potential to promote citizenship, generate financial and social inclusion, and stimulate human-centred economic and cultural transformation. He cited the 'Ilumina Angola' project as an example, a government initiative included in the 2023-2027 Development Plan, aimed at expanding national mobile coverage through infrastructure sharing and regulation to boost the economy.

ngelo Buta Joo highlighted the need for continued partnership between the public and private sectors and academia, focusing on connectivity infrastructure and the digitisation of services. The Secretary of State described Huawei Day 2026 as a landmark event that fosters partnerships capable of transforming the telecommunications sector and the national economy.

Organised by Huawei Technologies Angola, the event brought together government representatives, business leaders, experts from the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector, strategic partners, and other stakeholders from Angola's digital ecosystem. Discussions covered key global technological trends, the role of innovation in the country's digital transformation and sustainable development, smart transport, artificial intelligence, and other topics.
