Angolan Entrepreneur Considers ANGOTIC a Space for Debate on Innovation in Africa

Luanda: Angolan entrepreneur Paulo Quaresma stated on Tuesday in Luanda that the ANGOTIC 2026 Forum constitutes one of the largest African platforms for debating issues of innovation, digital governance, and continental development from the perspective of digital integration. Speaking to ANGOP, the international relations expert also highlighted the event, which will take place from 11-13 June, as a space for young startup creators to present their inventions, attract private investment, and for large companies to foster international cooperation, as well as strengthen the national innovation ecosystem. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angola Information and Communication Technologies Forum (ANGOTIC 2026), under the motto "On the Road to Digital Transformation," demonstrates the Angolan State's commitment to building a modern, connected, and inclusive economy, adapted to the global challenges of artificial intelligence, connectivity, and the digital economy. Paulo Quaresma emphasized that young An golans are talented and have been able to respond to the country's challenges, particularly with regard to service software startups, at a time when the Executive is committed to modernizing national systems. He noted that the event brings together several African leaders and companies from the information and communication technology sector, along with government officials from the continent, to discuss the main challenges of continental digital integration. The event is timely as the country is implementing structural reforms in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), focusing on the expansion of telecommunications, strengthening national connectivity, dematerializing public services, and modernizing critical infrastructure. Quaresma highlighted that the digitalization of public administration is a pillar of the governance strategy, which has allowed for the simplification of processes, greater transparency, and closer access to services for citizens, impacting administrative efficie ncy. Quaresma further added that the digital transformation process in Angola is already showing positive effects in vital sectors, such as education and finance, through the expansion of knowledge access and technological solutions that have boosted financial inclusion and the transition to the formal economy. Digital tools are opening new opportunities for trade, entrepreneurship, and integrating national companies into international markets. He also discussed the role of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and space technologies in promoting digital inclusion, particularly in the business sector. Emphasizing the use of geospatial data and solutions, he noted improvements in sectors such as agriculture, water management, land use planning, and environmental monitoring. The monitoring process is crucial for mitigating drought effects, improving food security, and supporting sustainable public policies, especially in the most affected regions. The ANGOTIC-2026 event expects to host more than 20,000 par ticipants, 100 exhibitors, 100 speakers, 117 companies, 180 startups, as well as roundtables, technical sessions, and other attractions. The event serves as the main information and communication technology forum in Angola, bringing together companies, startups, experts, academics, and government institutions for innovation, debate, and networking.
