Manila: Angolan ambassadors and consuls general accredited to Asia and Oceania convened in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, focusing on operational strategies to enhance diplomatic efforts in their respective countries. The meeting aimed to create actionable plans that would yield significant outcomes for Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the gathering commenced with a moment of silence honoring former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto, who recently passed away in Luanda due to illness. This inaugural meeting of Angolan diplomatic and consular missions in Asia and Oceania addressed the unique challenges faced by each Diplomatic Mission in representing the Angolan State effectively.
The session was led by Miguel Dialamcua, Director of the Asia and Oceania Directorate (DAO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, standing in for Minister T©te Ant³nio. In his opening remarks, Dialamcua stressed the importance of exchanging experiences on external diplomatic and consular issues to bolster institutional cooperation.
Dialamcua advised the Heads of Mission to remain attentive to geopolitical developments in their assigned countries while avoiding interference in domestic or regional matters. He underscored the significance of enhancing bilateral partnerships to support economic diversification goals.
The meeting saw participation from ambassadors or representatives of Angola accredited to the Philippines, Australia, South Korea, India, Japan, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, China, along with the Consulates General in Guangzhou and Macau, and the Angolan delegate to the Macau Forum.
This First Meeting of Diplomatic and Consular Missions is a strategic initiative to unify Angolan diplomats in Asia and Oceania. The objective is to consolidate ideas and devise strategies that will drive better outcomes for Angola and its citizens across various aspects of life.
