Lusaka: The Angolan ambassador to Zambia, Albino Malungo, highlighted the importance of Pan-Africanism, centered on the African Union's Agenda 2063, which seeks an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa. The statement was made during a meeting with the Zambian Minister of Tourism, Rodney Malindi Sikumba, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the Ghana-Zambia Fugu and Kente Exhibition aimed at promoting Pan-Africanism and African unity.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Albino Malungo praised the cultural value of the exhibition, emphasizing African identity, history, and culture, along with the fight against racial discrimination, fostering pride in the continent's heritage. The Fugu and Kente exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA). This three-day event aims to promote shared heritage through fashion and traditional textiles, celebrating African identity through style and tradition.
The event places a spotlight on Fugu and Kente, two iconic Ghanaian textiles known for their history, craftsmanship, and cultural significance. Interest in fugu has surged following the recent visit of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who donned the traditional northern Ghanaian attire during his visit to Zambia.
