Luanda: The Angolan delegation to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) games, scheduled to be held from July 17 to 27 in Dili, East Timor, is set to depart the country on Tuesday. This delegation, consisting of one hundred members, includes 52 athletes and 20 officers, and is anticipated to arrive in East Timor by Thursday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Angola is aiming to sustain its 3rd-place standing achieved in the 2018 edition of the games in So Tom© and Prncipe. The delegation will compete in various sports, including athletics, adapted athletics, men's and women's 3x3 basketball, karate, tennis, taekwondo, chess, and beach volleyball.
The CPLP games, which feature Under-16 participants, bring together young athletes from Angola, Portugal, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, So Tom© and Prncipe, Cabo Verde, and the host country, East Timor. Established in 1992 in Portugal, the games are designed to promote both sport and culture while enhancing friendship and cooperation among the participating member countries.
