Luanda: The head of the Angolan Council of Revival Churches (CIRA), Nzuzi Antonio, expressed concern on Monday regarding the increasing incidence of early pregnancies among girls under 14 years old across various regions of Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the statement came following a meeting with the Vice-President of the MPLA, Mara Quiosa. The meeting addressed several issues, including the introduction of a church-led initiative targeted at countries in the southern region of Africa. This project aims to counteract the rising trend of early pregnancies among young girls.
Although specific details of the initiative were not disclosed, Reverend Nzuzi Ant³nio emphasized the church's commitment to preventing cholera and enhancing its social action efforts.
'It's a concern because the church doesn't just play a spiritual role, but has an integral mission, a social mission, and works together with society because the church is inserted within society,' he said.
