Luanda: Angolan boxers Pedro Malungo (70 kg), Pedro Kakesua, and Jºnior Nicolau, both in the 50 kg category, are set to compete in the finals of the boxing tournament at the African Youth Games on Friday. The event is being held at the Cidadela pavilion in Luanda.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angolan athletes secured their spots in the gold medal matches by defeating their opponents in the semi-finals on Thursday night. Pedro Malungo overcame Nweke Solomon of Nigeria, while Pedro Kakesua triumphed over Yade Pape from Senegal. Jºnior Nicolau achieved victory against Salim Lakti of Tunisia.
In the final bouts, Pedro Malungo will compete against Nzengo Pembele of Congo. Pedro Kakesua is set to face Ofori Richardson from Ghana, and Jºnior Nicolau will go head-to-head with Billal Lezoul from Algeria.
