Angolan Ambassador Officially Assumes Non-Resident Role in Nicaragua


Havana: The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, Carlos Cruz de Lemos Sardinha Dias, has officially presented his credentials in Nicaragua, marking his new role as the country’s diplomatic representative with non-resident status. This significant event was completed through an online platform.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the credential presentation ceremony was presided over by Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke. During the event, the Foreign Minister expressed his delight over the appointment of the new Angolan ambassador and reaffirmed Nicaragua’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.



Valdrack Jaentschke also extended greetings from Nicaragua’s co-presidents, Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Rosario Murillo, to Angola’s Head of State, Joo Louren§o. The message included congratulations to the Angolan government and its people on the forthcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, which will be observed on November 11th this year.



Ambassador Carlos Sardinha emphasized Angola’s interest in fostering cooperation with Nicaragua, particularly focusing on the agricultural, farming, and cultural sectors. He highlighted the importance of preserving artistic and cultural heritage. The ambassador pledged to concentrate his efforts on developing mechanisms to promote various forms of cooperation between enterprises and institutions in both countries and to establish frameworks that encourage and safeguard mutual investments.



Nicaragua, the largest country in Central America, is strategically positioned between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Known for its varied landscape, including lakes, volcanoes, and extensive beaches, Nicaragua is recognized as one of the most sustainable and prosperous nations in the region. Its economy is heavily reliant on agriculture, with key products such as coffee, sugar, tobacco, beef, and precious metals.



The diplomatic relations between Angola and Nicaragua were first established on September 6, 1979.
