Berlin: The Angolan Ambassador to Germany, Maria Isabel de Resende Encoge, participated on Wednesday in an information and institutional exchange visit to the Saarland State, at the invitation of the German Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a note from the Angolan Embassy in Berlin sent to ANGOP, the initiative brought together heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations, and members of other representations accredited in Germany. The event aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the economic, social, cultural, and institutional reality of the federal state.
The action is part of the initiatives for rapprochement and dialogue promoted by the German Federal Presidency with the Diplomatic Corps. This initiative allows participants to learn about the strategic potential of Saarland and its main projects in development, innovation, and international cooperation.
During the visit, the Angolan diplomat engaged in institutional information sessions, meetings with local authorities, and visits to research centers located on the Saarland University campus. The program also included a visit to the V¶lklingen Ironworks, recognized as the only fully preserved ironworks from the peak of industrialization and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Another agenda highlight was a visit to the Villeroy and Boch earthenware and ceramics factory, a German brand with over 270 years of history and internationally recognized for its product quality. Participants also took part in exchange activities aimed at promoting dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding between diplomatic and institutional representatives.
The participation of Maria Isabel de Resende Encoge reinforces Angola's commitment to deepening diplomatic relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation with international partners. Located in southwestern Germany, bordering France and Luxembourg, the Saarland region is known for its industrial tradition, particularly in the mining and steel sectors. It has established itself as an important center for innovation, scientific research, and technological development. The region also hosts leading companies in the automotive, industrial, and technology sectors, benefiting from its strategic location in the heart of Europe.
