Luanda: The Angola national Under-17 football team emerged victorious against Lesotho with a 2-1 win in their opening match of the Cosafa Cup, held on Wednesday at the Soweto stadium in South Africa. The Angolan team showcased a strong performance, securing their lead with goals from Eliseu and Densel. Lesotho managed to score a consolation goal through Ngoko, but it was not enough to equalize.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Angola had already established a 1-0 lead by half-time. This victory places Angola at the top of Group A with three points, setting a promising tone for their campaign in the tournament. The team is aiming to secure their third Cosafa Cup trophy, having previously won the title in 2018 and 2021.

Looking ahead, Angola is set to face Malawi on Friday at 12 pm at the Um Às Muller stadium. Lesotho, on the other hand, will play against Mozambique, another Portuguese-speaking team, later the same day at 3 pm, also in the second round of the competition. The upcoming matches will be cr
