Cape Town: The Angolan government and the private company Ndumba are set to sign a significant agreement for mining prospecting in Lucapa, Lunda Norte province. This will take place during the 31st International Mining Conference and Exhibition, “Mining Indaba 2025,” in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the agreement will focus on the exploration of a 274 square kilometer area and involves an investment of 6.4 million US dollars. National Director of Mineral Resources, Paulo Tanganha, revealed this information during a press conference to outline Angola’s participation in the event, which is scheduled from February 3 to 6.

The event will serve as a platform to showcase the business environment of Angola’s mining sector, its geological-mining potential, and the investment opportunities available. Additionally, the Angolan delegation aims to forge partnerships with private operators and exchange knowledge on environmental and social sustainability.

“We want to attract large and small companies in order to improve operations in the sector,” Tanganha stated, emphasizing the importance of the event in achieving Angola’s ambitious goals.

Leading the Angolan delegation will be the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry, mining companies, and the Angolan Embassy in South Africa. The event is expected to gather mining professionals, investors, and industry leaders, providing a venue for networking and negotiation.

Discussions at the Mining Indaba will revolve around best practices across the mining value chain, including licensing, resource management, and value addition. The annual international conference aims to attract investment into the mineral sector across African countries.
