Angola to Set Up Toyota Academy in 2026

Luanda: Angola is set to establish a Toyota Academy in Luanda by 2026 to train Angolan trainers as well as those from other African countries, announced the Minister of Transport, Ricardo d’Abreu, during an event in Yokohama, Japan.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the announcement was made on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICA9). The minister detailed that a new educational institution is currently being constructed in Talatona, Luanda, with completion expected in February. The academy will focus on training workers in maintenance and workshop management, fields where Angola is noted to have significant expertise.

The initiative is not restricted to national trainees; it will also include candidates from other Portuguese-speaking countries. Initially, the academy will cater to individuals with existing experience, providing training comparable to that of a specialized mechanic.

The minister emphasized that the academy aims to reach a higher level of
training, allowing for more intensive instructor training and enhancing their training capacity. The project continues from a previous initiative but is structured independently from Toyota’s existing setup, offering a fresh dynamic to the educational landscape.
