Luanda: The French Ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, has articulated that Angola's presidency of the African Union has bolstered the nation's status as a strategic link between Africa and Europe, underscoring its diplomatic prowess in fostering intercontinental dialogue. According to Angola Press News Agency, the ambassador shared these insights during an interview concerning the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Angola and France, celebrated on February 17. She highlighted that Angola's hosting of the European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit and the EU-AU Business Forum in Luanda underscored the nation's importance in the African context and demonstrated the political trust European partners place in Angola's leadership on the continent. The ambassador noted that the participation of numerous heads of state, government ministers, and private sector representatives from both continents was a clear indication of the international community's recognition of Angolan diplomacy. She remarked that Angola has effectively positioned itself as a bridge between Africa and Europe, at a time when both regions are aiming to build a more balanced partnership focusing on investment, job creation, and sustainable development. On the economic front, the ambassador pointed to the success of the EU-AU Business Forum as evidence of a mutual commitment to transition from dialogue to tangible action, setting the stage for concrete projects in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and digital transformation. She reiterated France's dedication to deepening political, economic, and cultural ties with Angola, while acknowledging the country's increasing influence within Africa.
