Luanda: The Angolan pairs in both sexes debuted with wins in the first day of the 2nd Edition of the Beach Volleyball International Tournament, which began Friday in Luanda island. The female pair S³nia/Alice beat Mozambique's Vanessa and ngela by 2-0. The other nationals, Nelma/Vinguila, beat their Namibian counterparts, Piroska/Vandorn, by 2-0.
According to Angola Press News Agency, out of the 24 pairs that are registered, only 16 competed on the first day, while the other eight are scheduled to play on Saturday morning. The competition is being disputed in a round-robin tournament system.
On Saturday afternoon, the quarter-finals will be played in the event that brought together competitors from Mozambique, Namibia, and Norway, plus the hosts. The first edition of this tournament was won by Mozambique in the male category, while Morocco took the trophy in the female category.
The 2nd Edition of the Beach Volleyball International Tournament is intended to mark the 449th foundation anniversary of Luanda City, commemorated on 25th January.
