Addis Ababa: Angola seeks to reinforce and consolidate its active role in the prevention, management, and peaceful resolution of conflicts, contributing to the promotion of peace, stability, security, and development in Africa and the world. The Angolan representative to the African Union (AU), Miguel Bembe, made this statement on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the presentation of the preparations for the 4th Edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence -“2025 Biennial.”

According to Angola Press News Agency, the 4th Edition scheduled for 2025 is under the motto ‘Honor the Past, Value the Achievements, Building the Africa We Want,’ in harmony with the AU theme, ‘Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations.’ For Miguel Bembe, the forum reinforces the Pan-African movement for a culture of peace and non-violence, creating a global platform for cooperation to prevent violence and promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts, and a dynamic place for
the expression of African cultural diversity.

He stated that it also serves to create a multi-sectoral partnership to support sustainable and successful projects in the field of peace, stability, and security. He recalled that this edition coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Angola’s Independence on Nov 11, under the motto ‘Angola 50 Years: Preserving and valuing the achievements, building a better future.’

In February, Angola is to take over the rotating presidency of the African Union (2025-2026), with the motto ‘Infrastructures and Human Capital: Main Factors for Integral Development in Africa,’ thus strengthening the foundations for peace and sustainable development on the continent.

The Luanda Biennial was established by decision of the 24th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and AU’s Government, held in January 2015, in Addis Ababa, in a joint initiative by Angola, UNESCO, and the continental organization.
