Luanda: Two national pairs, one male and one female, are set to face each other on Sunday morning for the semi-finals of the second edition of the Beach Volleyball International Tournament, ensuring the presence of two Angolan teams in the event’s final.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the pairs competing in the semi-finals are Carlos Eduardo and Elvis/Bala for the male category and Djaine/Domingas and Nelma/Vinguila in the female category. These matches promise to showcase high-level competition as they vie for a spot in the finals.
For the men’s category, the other semi-finalists include Osvaldo/Zelito from Mozambique and Kraft/Kess from Namibia. In the women’s category, the remaining contenders are Vanessa/ngela from Mozambique and Juni/Nazira from Norway. The finals for both categories will be contested in the afternoon, with all matches taking place simultaneously on four different courts.
The tournament, which commenced on Friday, aims to commemorate the 449th foundation anniversary of Luanda City, celebrated on December 25. Saturday’s results saw several intense matches, with Yaro/Jedan and Carlos/Eduardo from Angola winning their match with partial scores of 10-21 and 21-18. Meanwhile, Osvaldo/Zelito from Mozambique defeated Joeson/Ernesto from Angola with scores of 21-18 and 21-15. In another match, Kraft/Kess from Namibia overcame Elvis/Bala from Angola with partials of 19-21 and 17-21.
In the women’s category, Djaine/Domingas from Angola beat Pirosca/Van Dor from Namibia with scores of 23-21 and 21-12. However, Raissa/Janeth from Angola fell to Vanessa/ngela from Mozambique, losing with partials of 17-21 and 12-21.
