Angola Reiterates Commitment to Security and Human Rights


Luanda: The Secretary of State for Human Rights and Citizenship, Ant³nia Yaba, reaffirmed on Thursday in Luanda, the Angolan State’s commitment to public security and respect for citizens’ fundamental rights. Speaking at the opening of the Third National Conference on Public Security and Human Rights, Yaba stressed the crucial role of the National Police in maintaining order.



According to Angola Press News Agency, Yaba highlighted that human rights are fundamental to the dignity and well-being of all citizens and noted the importance of the right to life, liberty, and personal security. She also underscored that, even in cases of forced deprivation of liberty, individuals must be treated with dignity and respect. Yaba stated, “The violation of human rights can lead to insecurity and instability, while their protection and promotion contribute decisively to strengthening trust and collective well-being.”



Furthermore, Yaba urged for police actions characterized by responsibility, professionalism, and integrity, emphasizing that such approaches should go “beyond simply cracking down on crime” to avoid any negative impact on the individual freedoms of Angolans.
