Luanda: The Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho, reaffirmed on Thursday in Luanda the commitment of the Angolan government to promote rational, safe, and environmentally responsible management of chemical products, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Speaking at the opening of the National Conference on Chemical Management, the minister highlighted the global challenge posed by the growth of industrial activities, increased international trade, and the diversification of sectors using these substances.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister emphasized the need for states to enhance their regulatory, control, and monitoring systems to prevent risks and ensure the safe use of chemical products. This initiative aligns with Angola's Basic Law on the Environment and the country's constitution, focusing on sustainable development, environmental protection, and public health.
The conference gathered technicians, experts from various fields, economic operators, and civil society representatives. The event aimed to identify challenges, share best practices, and propose sustainable solutions tailored to the national context.
