Seoul: Angola considers economic and technological cooperation and human resource development as priority areas for deepening relations between Africa and the Republic of Korea, Foreign Minister T©te Ant³nio said today during the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of African Countries and the Republic of Korea, taking place in Seoul.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to ANGOP, T©te Ant³nio reiterated Angola's commitment to strengthening cooperation relations between Africa and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized the importance of partnerships based on mutual benefit, promoting economic growth, industrialization, and the transfer of knowledge and technology. The minister also highlighted the role of multilateralism, constructive dialogue, and international solidarity in responding to global challenges, particularly those related to peace and security, climate change, food security, and inclusive development.
According to the official, Angola recognizes the path of economic, technological, and industrial development achieved by the Republic of Korea, whose experience based on investment in human capital, innovation, science, and technology serves as a benchmark for several developing countries. T©te Ant³nio stated that relations between Angola and South Korea have made significant progress over the years, underpinned by the principles of friendship, mutual respect, and state sovereignty.
As part of the national economic diversification strategy, he identified several areas with potential for more intense cooperation, including trade and investment, agriculture and food security, infrastructure, energy, digital transformation, information technologies, public health, education, technical and vocational training, manufacturing, and sustainable development. The minister also reaffirmed Angola's commitment to creating an environment conducive to foreign investment, through the implementation of economic and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, legal certainty, and the competitiveness of the national market. In this context, he encouraged South Korean companies to explore existing investment opportunities in the country.
On the multilateral level, T©te Ant³nio noted that Angola and the Republic of Korea share values linked to the promotion of peace, international stability, sustainable development, and respect for international law. He also expressed his conviction that closer cooperation between African countries and Korea could contribute to addressing global challenges related to climate change, food security, digital transformation, and sustainable economic development.
The meeting brings together officials from African and South Korean diplomacy and aims to strengthen political dialogue, deepen multilateral cooperation, and identify new opportunities for strategic partnership. For two days, participants will review the results of the Africa-Korea Summit, held in Seoul in June 2024, and analyze new ways to expand cooperation between the two regions.
