Angola Presents Public Tender in Australia for Caio Terminal Management

Melbourne: The potential of the International Public Tender for the Concession of the Management of the Caio Deepwater Terminal in Cabinda was presented to the Australian business sector in Melbourne, aiming to attract operators with global experience to the Angolan market.

According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release detailed that the initiative was part of a service mission led by Ant³nio Luvualu de Carvalho, the head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Australia. Carvalho engaged in separate discussions with senior executives from the BEACON Group and the Australia-Africa Chamber of Commerce (AACC).

During these meetings, the diplomat disseminated documentation for the public tender, which had been launched by the Ministry of Transport on April 9. He emphasized that the tender seeks operators or consortia with demonstrated technical, financial, and operational expertise in managing substantial cargo volumes at international port terminals. Carvalho also underscored the geostrategic importance of the Port of Caio, noting its advantageous location in the Atlantic Ocean, enabling swift access to Central African markets, including the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He stated, "This infrastructure represents a highly significant economic asset for boosting trade in the Central-Southern region of the continent."

The business sector reacted positively to the tender opening. Representatives from Australian businesses acknowledged the project's strategic value for the region. Regina Knobel, the charg© d'affaires of the BEACON Group, highlighted the group's extensive network of contacts in cities such as London, Riyadh, Hong Kong, and North America, which could foster growth partnerships. Duncan Harris, CEO of the Australia-Africa Chamber of Commerce (AACC), committed to distributing the technical details to the organization's over two thousand members. The AACC remains the largest Australian institution focused on enhancing relations with Africa, particularly in sectors like mining, agribusiness, energy, and green technology.
