Luanda: Relations between Angola and the Republic of Korea have reached a new level in the last four years, thanks to strengthened political, economic, cultural, and development cooperation. This was expressed by the Republic of Korea ambassador to Angola, Kwang-Jin Choi, after an audience with Angolan president Joo Louren§o at the end of his four-year diplomatic mission in the country.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the period was marked by the intensification of bilateral contacts, notably the official visit of the Angolan Head of State to the Republic of Korea, the Korea-Africa Summit, and various bilateral and multilateral consultation mechanisms. The diplomat noted that, as a result of this dynamism, the volume of trade between Angola and South Korea has increased fivefold, while development cooperation has expanded to sectors such as public security, health, education, and agriculture.

In the cultural and social field, Kwang-Jin Choi highlighted the twinning agreement between the cities of Busan and Luanda, as well as other initiatives that contributed to bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together and strengthening mutual understanding and trust. 'In a word, relations between Korea and Angola have reached a new turning point for even greater development,' he declared.

Kwang-Jin Choi also thanked the Angolan authorities and people for the collaboration and support received during his diplomatic duties in Angola. Angola and the Republic of Korea have maintained diplomatic relations since January 1992, on a path marked by the gradual strengthening of political, economic, technical, and cultural cooperation.

Over the years, the two countries have developed partnerships in strategic sectors such as education, health, agriculture, personnel training, public security, and infrastructure. Luanda and Seoul have also signed several cooperation instruments aimed at promoting technical exchange, human resource development, and strengthening economic and trade relations.

The bilateral partnership gained greater prominence with the opening of resident diplomatic missions and the intensification of high-level contacts between government officials, business leaders, and public institutions.
