Angola Hosts 3rd Edition of US-Africa in Diaspora Summit in Houston

Houston: The Consulate General of Angola in Houston, Texas, United States, in partnership with the Society For Africans In the Diaspora (SAID Institute), organized the 3rd edition of the 'United States - Africa in Diaspora' Summit in Houston on Tuesday. The event gathered African and North American diplomats, businesspeople, academics, and community leaders under one roof.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the summit, themed 'Global Africa: Investment, Partnerships and a Sustainable Future', aimed to stimulate dialogue and establish strategic connections between the African continent and its diaspora. The focus was primarily on business opportunities, innovation, and economic development.

During the opening session, the Angolan Consul General in Houston, Ana Paula do Nascimento, underscored the significance of Africa Day, which was celebrated last Sunday. She described it as a symbol of unity, identity, and a commitment to the continent's progress. Nascimento emphasized that Africa will continue to rely on its children and diaspora to devise African solutions to African challenges.

In her address, Nascimento extended an official invitation to attendees to join the US-Africa Heads of State Summit, which will be co-organized by the Corporate Council on Africa and the Angolan Government. This summit is scheduled to take place in Luanda from June 22 to 25, 2025, coinciding with Angola's 50th anniversary of Independence on November 11.

The event included speeches from consuls general of various African nations accredited in Houston, with notable contributions from representatives of Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, and Ghana. The sessions covered topics such as "investment in strategic sectors", "the role of youth in innovation", and "the importance of sustainable alliances between Africa and the United States".

This third edition strengthens the US-Africa Summit in the Diaspora as a reference platform for the exchange of ideas, the strengthening of diplomatic, economic relations and the promotion of a united and global pan-African vision.
