Angola First Lady Advocates OAFLAD Projects Continuity

Addis Ababa: The Angolan First Lady, Ana Dias Louren§o, expressed confidence in a positive performance during her term as vice-president of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), in which she will continue the institution's programs.

According to Angola Press News Agency, in an interview with the Angolan press on Monday, Feb 17, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Ana Dias Louren§o stated that, together with the organization chair, Sierra Leone's First Lady, F¡tima Maada Bio, they intend to do a good job with assistance from the other First Ladies, particularly the members of the Steering Committee.

Ana Dias Louren§o highlighted her commitment to continuing the organization's work in Angola with the support of the Ngana Nzenza Foundation and the Office of the First Lady to address issues in the country. She noted that significant messages were conveyed during the OAFLAD meeting from partners, international institutions, and United Nations bodies, alongside formal communications from each participating First Lady.

During the first day of the meeting, documents governing the organization's operations were approved, including the strategic framework for 2025-2030, the 2024 secretariat report, and the budget. The meeting also reviewed quotas and the electoral process, culminating in the election of the Steering Committee, president, and vice-president. Ana Dias Louren§o confirmed that 'all objectives were achieved'.

Ana Dias Louren§o was elected as OAFLAD vice-president on Saturday, Feb 15, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 2025-2027 term. Her election coincided with the 38th Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government, which ended on Sunday and affirmed the Angola Statesman, Joo Louren§o, as leader of the continental organization.
