Bangui: Angola’s ambassador to the Central African Republic, Vicente Muanda, expressed condolences to Central African Prime Minister F©lix Moloua for the tragic death of 29 students at Barth©l©my Boganda High School on June 25.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the diplomat, residing in Brazzaville, conveyed the pain and solidarity of the Angolan people during this period of national mourning in the Central African Republic (CAR). He emphasized Angola’s commitment to peace, stability, and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister F©lix Moloua appreciated Angola’s solidarity, recognizing the nation’s role as a vital partner for the Central African people. He remarked, “Angola’s role in peace efforts in the CAR is unquestionable. Your visit symbolizes warmth, friendship, and the desire to strengthen our relations.”

The meeting also included discussions on revitalizing and deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly focusing on agreements between the two countries. The need to establish a Joint Angola-RCA Bilateral Commission was highlighted to facilitate the monitoring and implementation of these protocols.

The Prime Minister mentioned preparations for local and municipal elections, a significant step towards democracy and political stability. He requested Angola’s support in attracting investors and promoting business events in Bangui, proposing the creation of an Angola-RCA Chamber of Commerce to enhance economic diplomacy.

Regarding regional connectivity, Moloua expressed concerns over the suspension of TAAG – Angolan Airlines flights on the Luanda/Brazzaville/Douala/Bangui route, stressing its negative impact on the landlocked country. He emphasized the importance of regular air links for commercial and social exchange.

The Angolan diplomat pointed out discrimination in granting the 5th freedom to African airlines compared to those outside the continent. He suggested discussing this issue with the CAR Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Aeronautical Authority to review the 5th freedom for TAAG-Angola Airlines flights.

Angola and the Central African Republic have a history of strengthened relations, with cooperation agreements in various sectors since 2010. In 2014, Angola supported the CAR during its political transition, and in 2021, Presidents Joo Louren§o and Faustin-Archange Touad©ra reaffirmed their bilateral commitment to development and peace in Africa.
