Luanda: At least 109,563 formal jobs were created in the first half of this year (2025) in Angola, the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, Pedro Filipe, announced Thursday. Speaking at the ’11th Briefing of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security’, Filipe emphasized that these jobs were registered in the database of the National Social Security Institute (INSS).
According to Angola Press News Agency, Pedro Filipe shared that 218,669 formal jobs were created in Angola last year, with the annual average of net new jobs rising from 41,700 in 2021 to 192,700 in 2024. The Secretary of State highlighted the encouraging statistics, noting an average of 17,722 jobs created each month.
Filipe pointed out that April was the most productive month with 20,997 jobs created, while February saw a lower record with 14,474 jobs. He mentioned that these figures align with the macroeconomic indicators recently presented by the National Statistics Institute (INE) for the last quarter.
Commerce, collective activities, and services remain the most representative sectors, although notable figures have also been recorded in industry and construction. Filipe revealed that in the first half of the year, job centers offered around 35,445 positions, while demand was at 35,190. He praised the reorganization of job centers and the National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) for their roles in enhancing the job market and institutional credibility.
The 11th MAPTSS Briefing, attended by the ministerial department’s portfolio holder, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, addressed topics concerning employment and the INSS’s strategic plan for 2025.
