According to Angola Press News Agency, President Lourenço emphasized the evolving nature of Angola-US relations, which have been strengthening since the establishment of political-diplomatic ties on May 19, 1993. This visit marks the first time an American president has set foot on Angolan soil, coinciding with the upcoming 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence.
Lourenço articulated a commitment to fostering economic ties, aiming to attract direct American investment to Angola and open trade and business avenues for Angolan investors in the US market.
